This story isn’t just a medical miracle It’s a real miracle.
Karen and Brian Wollman were over-the-moon when they found out they were expecting their third child Ð a baby boy. But then, tragically, an ultrasound revealed that not only did their baby boy have Down Syndrome, he also had hydrops which caused his body to swell with fluid.
Doctors said to expect a stillborn baby, but the Wollmans refused to give up hope. Everyday while he was in her womb, Karen softly sang “This Little Light Of Mine” to baby Renner, and urged him not to give up.
Doctors were shocked when Renner was still breathing when he was delivered via emergency C-section at just 35 weeks. He was immediately put on oxygen and the Wollman’s were asked if they had any last wishes for their baby, who wasn’t expected to live for more than a few days.
Recently, we’ve heard stories about the miraculous power of a mother’s touch to revive babies who don’t make it through birth. Perhaps Karen Wollman knew about the miracle in a mother’s touch as well, because she had one final request for baby Renner Ð she wanted to bring her rocking chair into the hospital so she could rock her baby for the first (and possibly the last) time.
Little did she know, one of God’s precious miracles was about to happen
